Joseph Faiveley Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2005

Nov 3, 2008

The 2005 vintage in Burgundy was excellent for both reds and whites and the Joseph Faiveley Bourgogne (made from Pinot Noir) is a perfect example of the balanced and delicious wines that were made that year. This wine offers excellent value for both Burgundy and for Pinot Noir. Approximately 50% of the wine was aged in oak barrels for 18 months, so there is only a slight touch of vanilla and spice to the wine. The well integrated tannins make this wine a great match for salmon, chicken or any number of vegetarian dishes.

This is a very food-friendly Pinot Noir that is both elegant as well as approachable.
This is one of those wines that makes you say “Ah-ha! This is Burgundy.”

Conclusions: While approachable and very drinkable now, this is also a wine that could age a year or two. Perfect for any number of meals, it is food-friendly and delicious and is a terrific example of a well-made Bourgogne Rouge.
