The 2005 vintage in Burgundy was excellent for both reds and whites and the Joseph Faiveley Bourgogne (made from Pinot Noir) is a perfect example of the balanced and delicious wines that were made that year. This wine offers excellent value for both Burgundy and for Pinot Noir. Approximately 50% of the wine was aged in oak barrels for 18 months, so there is only a slight touch of vanilla and spice to the wine. The well integrated tannins make this wine a great match for salmon, chicken or any number of vegetarian dishes.

Conclusions: While approachable and very drinkable now, this is also a wine that could age a year or two. Perfect for any number of meals, it is food-friendly and delicious and is a terrific example of a well-made Bourgogne Rouge.
