Ferran Adrià is recognized as the best chef in the World. In 1984, at the age of 22, he joined the kitchen staff of “El Bulli” and only 18 months later, he became head chef. He began performing culinary experiments, which were based on the use of fresh materials and adapting classic Mediterranean preparartions to give El Bulli’s cuisine new twists with creative flair. His legendary talent, creativity and gastronomic innovations have inspired chefs and food lovers around the world for many years, and make El Bulli what it is today. His first book in English, “A day at elBulli” was released on October 2, 2008.
Anthony Bourdain is the chef at New York’s famed bistro “Les Halles”. His exposé of New York Restaurants, “Don’t Eat Before Reading This” published in the New Yorker in 1999, attracted huge attention. Then he wrote the acclaimed book ” Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly”, which described in lurid detail his experiences in kitchens and became a surprise international bestseller. In late 2000, Mr Bourdain set out to eat his way across the world. “A cook’s Tour” and its 22-part TV series, chronicle his adventures on that voyage. His latest book, “The Nasty Bits: Collected Varietal Cuts, Useable Trim, Scraps and Bone” is a collection of stories telling his worldwide misadventures.

Alice Waters, one of America’s most influential chefs, created a revolution in 1971 when she introduced local, organic fare at her Berkeley, CA, restaurant “Chez Panisse”. Her restaurant was named best restaurant in the USA by Gourmet Magazine in 2001. Ms Waters is the founder of the Yale Sustainable Food Project and vice president of Slow Food International. She was the recipient of the Natural Resources Defense Council Forest for Nature Award in 2004 and the Harvard Global Environmental Citizen Award alongside Kofi Annan in 2008.

Join us for our first “Winesdays” event with an evening of superb wine and food at Arpeggio Food & Wine at Lincoln Center Avery Fischer Hall. These events are truly a great way to meet new people and enjoy great wine and food along the way! This will be the first of a monthly event featuring a different wine theme for each evening. Tonight’s theme will be “Tour de France” The New World has always imitated what France has produced. Being challenged on all sides by the New World, France is redefining itself and continuing to set the global standard. Our tour will demonstrate the vastness of flavors and styles in France. We will feature wines from the aromatic whites of Alsace, to stunning white Burgundy and of course the classic red wines of Bordeaux and the Rhône. The diversity and quality of wines is tremendous, to say the least. Join us for this fascinating Tour de France in a celebration of its great wines.

Chicago Botanic Garden, June 7th and 8th 2008
The 2008 Edition of the Chicago Botanic Garden Wine Festival took place in Glencoe (Chicago). Around 5,000 wine-focused consumers attended the event. Binny’s Beverage Depot was one of the main sponsors of this event. The Wines of France table, featuring 12 different wines, was a real success among visitors. During the two-day event, most consumers tried the French wine. They expressed a great deal of curiosity about it, asked a lot of questions and found all the wines very good. Wine seminars and cooking demonstrations were conducted by event sponsors, exhibiting wineries, area chefs and restaurateurs.
Midwest Wine Expo, April 6th 2008
Binny’s Beverage Depot, major liquor chain in Illinois, featured 13 Wines of France tables with 6 bottles of French wines on each during the Midwest Wine Expo in Oak Brook, IL. Approximately 3,000 people came to this event and enjoyed tasting French wines and discovering French culture through conferences.
