Wow – I can’t believe my time in France is coming to an end! Tomorrow marks the last day of my trip and I am already trying to figure out when to come back. And where to go when I do! I have seen so many absolutely amazing and beautiful sites in the last few days as well as had some delicious meals and tasted a variety of fascinating wines. I can’t wait for the videos we have been shooting to be ready to be put up on the blog – I think you will all get quite a kick out of them!
This trip has been quite a whirlwind, which has both some pros and cons. Traveling through France so much of France in such a short amount of time isn’t ideal for getting an in-depth understanding of each and every region, but what it is terrific for is getting a snapshot overview of all of the diversity that one can find here. Driving from Bordeaux though the Southwest allows you to really appreciate the changing topography and then when you move from the Southwest over to the Languedoc-Roussillon the land shifts again. Traveling further south and east, the region of Provence is clearly defined not only by the golden color of the buildings, but also by the smell of sweet lavender. Watching the colors of the houses change is fun, but if you watch closely, you can actually see the very color of the earth change. And all of this makes even more sense when you step back and look at the bigger picture of just how important the concept of terroir (the taste of a place) is to a French vigneron.
I’ve attached a few pictures so that you can see some of the beautiful colors I have seen over the last two weeks – I hope that you enjoy them!
