I love to travel, really I do. But I hate packing…I reeeeeeeeeeeally hate it. I like to always be prepared for things and when you travel, that’s hard to do – especially if you are trying to travel "light". We have two mottos in my family – "if you can’t carry it, don’t take it" and "there are stores where we are going". Essentially they boil down to the same message – don’t take EVERYTHING. But the trip that I am heading off on this weekend is going to be a little different, and so I’ve been having a little trouble sticking to all of my packing rules. And the number of times I’ve had to hit the mall to search out a specific item that I have to have for this trip…well, I’ve lost count.
But it will all be worth it. Starting on Saturday I am heading off to France for a two week trip and packing disasters aside, I couldn’t be more excited. Part of the reason for the trip is that I will be traveling to six different wine regions to film some videos for the blog. While I have been to France many times, there are some places we are going for filming that are going to be new to me, and so I can’t wait to see them.
The other reason for my trip is that I am heading to Bordeaux for the Institute of Masters of Wine Symposium. MW Symposiums only happen every couple of years and so when they do, they are pretty special. The line-up of speakers and the discussion topics look great and it is always fascinating to get together with so many interesting wine-loving people. And one of the best parts of these kinds of events is that the mix of attendees is usually very international. That makes the discussion about wine even more exciting.
I will definitely be posting about some of my experiences on the trip and I can’t wait to share some videos and pictures of all that there will be to see (and eat and drink). So check back frequently and we can play the "Where in France is Sheri Morano" game!
In the meantime, I had better get back to packing (and re-packing) my suitcase!
Cheers!
